Welcome to this, the 41th edition of CSE, a Scopus registered (E-ISSN 2426-1335) magazine which provides the following benefits:

  1. Free publication – no financial obligation to authors;
  2. Free download – maximum exposure for authors’ work;
  3. Rigorous review – reviewers are selected from the most knowledgeable experts globally by the Study Committee chairpersons;
  4. Rapid publication – the time from submission to publication can be from 6-9 months depending on the revisions required.

The journal is active and indexed in Scopus and the details can be accessed here.

In this bumper edition of 16 papers, we are pleased to present the best papers from Montreal, and the best paper from the South African conference. There are also papers from selected authors dealing with composite insulators and dynamic performance of interconnection of IBR loads.

We are also very pleased to present papers from working groups which are compiled by the leading global experts on the subject. These include integration of large power electronic interfaced loads (such as data centres), integration challenges for distributed energy resources including cybersecurity, and a test cell for partial discharge tests.

As can be seen from the papers presented, CIGRE is at the forefront of the technology challenges facing the industry at present. The pressing issues of large loads with rapid changes such as data centres as well as green hydrogen production create challenges best solved by combining expertise. This is demonstrated in the working group papers on the subject presented here.
